some random anime, yotsuba, things, food & life ね。
#1: Melon Pan
Finally I had a melon pan for breakfast on that day, after all the curiosity on how does it taste like. I mean, since melon pan seems quite popular in anime (eg Shana chan of Shakugan no Shana) and probably in Japan, it should be at least something special, deshou?
I was preparing to see some MELON content inside the bread or at least it’s melon flavoured. Actually I’ve also been wondering how melon and bread made good combination – it’s just weird. So yeah anyways, after giving so much thoughts towards a bun, actually I could’ve just google about it first if I was that curious about it. From Wikipedia:
” Melonpan, also known as Melon Pan or Melon buns, is a sweet bread from Japan. It is a soft, round bread covered in a crisp, cookie-like coating. Its appearance is supposed to resemble a melon, such as a rock melon. Typically, they are not melon flavoured (although melon essence is sometimes used in order to enhance the aroma). There is at least one known variation which involves placing a few chocolate chips in between the cookie layer and the bread layer. “
So it’s just like Bo Lo Bao (pineapple bun), a bun that’s not made of Bo Lo (pinapple).
Seriously, the Asian probably lack of some food naming skill. :P

#3: Bon Odori
I’ve been going to this once-a-year event for a few years already and still enjoy it every time. This year I went with my sis. We were sitting at one corner where there were a few Japanese families havinf their picnics around us. Those kids are so cute in their yukata. They were running and playing around like nobody business.
Also had some yakisoba, some jap pizza (?), and some grilled cuttlefish. ^^” There were so many people queuing for food. Wanted to get more stuff like takoyaki after the first round, but I was just too lazy to queue and squeeze anymore. Food tasted so-so, I think even those that sold in the supermart could be much tastier, and cheaper. Had Asahi with sis too, that under 18 kid. Tasted a lil plain at first but the after effect is actually stronger than I thought it would be. And finally when I wanted get some Japanese ice cream which I never missed to eat there every year, it was all sold out! D:
Didn’t join the traditional dance – just sitting at our spot and checking out the huge crowds. Besides the kawaii and kakkoi Japanese kids, there were so many other stuff (humans) to see. There’s this group of girls in pajamas, walking around with teddy bears and indoor slippers – really stood out a lot. Many Gothic Lolitas too – black & white dresses, laces, fish net stockings, stripes, etc. It wasn’t some bad fashion really, but it’s just funny when you see one whole bunch of them wearing the same style while you can actually tell that they got their apparals and accessories from the same shops in Times Square. Anyways, we did have some good laugh. Some locals are just trying too hard to “look” like a Japanese imho.
Met Nad and Azman there too, and their Alpha friends. Pointing at me, Nad told them “this is your DM Delta senior”. Woot. For the first time I finally realised that I’m already in my Delta and also the final year in uni. D: Not to mention besides the 3 of us, the rest were all Alpha kids, which made us feel older even..

Who-knows-might-be related posts:It’s a lil late, but thanks to fansub.tv, managed to download some anime from the workplace.
Anyways, finally got to watch the first ep of H&C II, although it’s more or less just a recap, but hey it’s H&C! I just spent one whole week to rewatch the first season.
Well, the new OP and ED are so-so. I still prefer the old ones, most probably because of them being played for so long and so many times in the head. Nothing much to comment about the anime itself actually, since it’s just a retelling story from last season. Hopefully the rest of the H&C II will be as good as the first season, if not better. My ideal pairing will be Hagu x Takemoto and Nomiya x Yamada. Sorry for Morita san, he’s just over psycho-ed and talented sometimes; and Yamada should just get over with Mayama already, take a good look at Nomiya san, he’s too good to be missed! Lols.

Vol. 1 & 2 grabbed. Will get the rest soon.
Only plan to collect the Taiwanese version, as English licensed manga are usually almost twice the price of the Taiwanese ones..
*Edit* btw the Yotsubato! page is now updated with more chapters.
