Actually never plan to watch this, but since someone said it wasn’t that bad so I thought I’ll give it a chance. Who doesn’t like pretty cars here. ;P

Well it wasn’t bad, since never really expect much from it. First to notice is the soundtrack, the very first soundtrack of the movie is quite cool. The rest of the soundtracks are okay. Frankly, as long as they didn’t take Initial D’s eurobeat into the bgm, I am fine.

The characters. First the main guy Sean. I think they could have look for someone else who looks more like a under 18 high school kid allrites – it’s kinda funny to see him being stucked in the Japanese high school uniform lols. The babe is pretty. DK is uh, not too impressive. Imho Han is the most likable char in the whole movie. Twinkie’s expression when he’s showing off his car to Sean for the first time is gold. So cute! ;P Actually most of the characters are just there to make the movie looks grand: Tokyo metropolis and gaijin ah bengs + plenty of pretty sexy chics, a typical racing movie.

Cars. I dunno anything about the cars. Not that they’re mentioned a lot in the movie actually. I only know those familiar names like Skyline, Evo, and did I hear Hyundai? None of the cars in the movie is very impressively looking actually. XP The stunts are allrites too, maybe it’s the camera angles, I somehow think Initial D’s angles are nicer. Not to mention some parts are over CG-ed too.

Story. Right, obviously the main guy HAS TO win in the end of the race. And one race settle everything? D: Anyway, it’s not a too lousy story, just a wee bit shallow probably, there are many things they could digging in deeper actually, like the yakuza family, the Natalie chic, Sean’s family, and even Han, an interesting character lols. But then again, I understand it’s a movie so everything’s gonna keep simple in order to catch audience’s attention, so in the end it’s probably wiser to crash as many cars as possible I guess.

Tokyo. Good choice – we all love Tokyo, nuff’ said.

Some other random stuff. Like the part when Sean and Twinkie went to collect Twinkie’s green baby.. their expressions are just too good to be missed. And the part where there are four cars chasing each other along the highways – pretty neat stuff.

Overall I think it’s quite an enjoyable movie, especially for the visual effects. Maybe one day I’ll want to try drifting too. Anyone? :P
