The evening sky of natsu matsuri. Aka the summer festival.
..
This is probably my 5th time to Bon Odori since year 2001. And it never really change much through out the years, except for more people/lala/lolitas joining. The food stores are selling more or less the same stuff as past years; the three ondo and the steps for the traditional cultural dance are remain the same as well. Guess it’s good to stay the same anyways.
This post has nothing to do with the Japanese cultural part as this year I went there quite early, around 5 something in the evening, to eat – even though we all know very well that they are just selling overpriced stuff compare to what they’re selling in their departmental stores normally. But what to do, it’s the festival. Damn.
Early = less people queuing up for food.
Early = more ice cream flavours are available.
..

Chizzu Aisu Sando aka Cheese Ice Sandwich. The outer biscuits are too powdery, the other brand that we had last year was much nicer. RM6.
..

Yukimi Daifuku ~ Teiramisu aka mochi ice cream (Tiramisu flavour) by Lotte. Nice packaging. RM6.
..

Looks like roasted chestnuts. The outer layer taste bad, inner was nice. But nothing really reminds me of Tiramisu.
..

CRUNKY mangou- aka CRUNKY (I lol’ed) mango. This is good. RM6.
..

Time for the main course after the appetizers. Present to you kare- raisu aka Japanese curry rice. Comes with carrots and potatoes, no meat. Taste better than I imagined, because not too sweet. RM5.
Is it normal for people to eat kare raisu during matsuri .. ne?
..

More main course and drinks. One piece of unagi, RM10. Foster’s, ice peach green tea and ice apple green tea are RM12 in total.
..

Ramune aka lemonade. Japanese’ carbonated soft drink. Taste normal but nice bottle. Yay packaging. RM6.
..

Last but not least, more aisu! Waori green tea ice cream. RM6.
..
The food are sure expensive and fat. Especially for the amount of the ice cream that we had. But this time around we did join one of the cultural dance sessions after the whole eating thingy so hopefully that helps to burn some calories in a way. Lols.
..
So when can I go to a natsu matsuri in Japan itself eh.
Huhuhu.

OMG… those aisu looks so yummy. That’s the only thing that bon odori is better than the natsu matsuri here IMO.
Actually I had kare raisu (meat included) at natsu matsuri last year. Sort of regretted as there were nicer food at some other part which I failed to explore at first. And the year before I had unagi don. Such coincidence huh… =P
I want to go to natsu matsuri in Japan too!! And get myself a yukata!! \(^o^)/
