So yeah, after watching the music video, we decided to catch Secret in the cinema. Since the movie tics are only RM6 each in TGV on Wednesday, before 5 (or is it 6pm) so I wouldn’t say the movie isn’t worth the money – but it’s definitely not damn great either. One word can describe how I felt after the movie:

Seriously, it’s a romance movie yeah, but it’s just so weird. MAJOR SPOILERS after the line. Do not read this further if you really wanna enjoy the weirdness big big secrets in the movie.

Love that sexy antique piano.

The first half of the movie is very fine. The school, the guy (Jay) and the girl (Rain) met, their little talks, the piano skills showing off session, the dad, are all great. I dun have problems with their acting skills as well since Jay basically just acting back as himself, the girl is fine too, Anthony Wong needless to say, a great actor. The settings is probably the best thing of the movie, I’d wish to study in that kind of environment for once really, with school uniforms like that! The lovely ribbon bow tie. D:

Not to mention the piano duel between Jay and Yu Hao (Yes, the Yu Hao from Nan Quan Ma Ma), simply fantastic. Playing an instrument like piano or guitar is probably the fastest and easiest way to attract many chics girls at once lols. I can feel the female audience in cinema went like *Omg <3!!!* while the guys were like *Fuh..* when Jay and Yu Hao playing their own versions of Chopin. They’re both amazing, indeed. All of sudden it felt like I’m watching Nodame lols.

So what’s actually so weird?

It’s a bit hard to tell actually. While I understand what the director cum original script writer Jay is trying to say, it’s the way he presents the story is kinda unnatural – probably because of his lacking experience in this movie making thingy. So yeah, after the cute little lovey dovey time, Rain disappeared.

Why?

Because Rain is Mikuru time traveler, or some spirit/ghost/unseen human before the answer is given. I’m sure Haruhi will be happy to have her as a member of SOS Dan.

See how weird is that? All of sudden it became a horror / sci-fi / fantasy movie, came with all the Harry Potter-ish Vfx. No wonder the opening is so fantasy-ish come to think of it. Never mind that, before the movie end, Jay just had to do some superhero stunts, and there we have an action movie this time. And I damn pity the dad, I wonder if he survived. D:

The sudden mood change and choppy cuts between plots are pretty disturbing lols. But well, the scenes and cinematography are really great nonetheless. So is the soundtrack. And the little couple interactions are quite natural lols. I just wish they can deal with the time traveling and truth revealing parts better.

Hmm. 3.2 out of 5.
