[20th July 07] I’ve been using mirc and ddl (Direct Download) sites to download anime since probably 2 years ago. Not mentioning which method is better but I do think that ddl is the easier way to get your dose of anime nowadays. Was compiling a list of anime ddl sites for my sis just now, and I thought why not just share them here. I’ll try to update the list from time to time too.

Leech all you want (and at your own risk) but make sure to follow their rules. Hammering them does you no good.

[2nd Feb 09] Major update on the list. Took out all the dead sites. Honestly, nowadays I hardly use ddl anymore as mirc is so much more reliable. Nevertheless, enjoy the list – will try update this monthly.

Working DDL Sites: Recommended

01. lolipower – serving many old and on going series starting from first ep. Some manga as well. Quick update. Nice speed. Unlicensed only. Some countries [SG, MY - what else] IP are banned.

02. crazi-pwns-joo – serving on going series with only latest episodes. [not updated]

03. ultracarl – currently only serving Ef ~ a Tale of Memories. [lack of update]

04. animeeden – serving many complete and on going series. Some manga as well. Register required. Unlicensed only.

05. adc-distro – serving a few popular series for free (Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, etc). Manga as well. Register required.

06. animesheep – serving on going series. 2 eps per 30mins limit, 200 slots. Register required (account can be shared with gendou.com). Unlicensed only.

07. otakuworks – serving some on going series. Register required.

08. animebw – many complete and on going series. Register required. Unlicensed only. [ddl service is shutting down starting 7 feb 09]

09. fansub.tv – serving many on going and complete series. Unlicensed only.

10. tidwah – serving a few series: Gigantic Formula, Major & etc. [lack of update]

11. baka-wolf – serving many complete and on going series. Register required.

12. veoh – online streaming, but is able to download full quality ep as well with their downloader. [I assume it's working as I couldn't test it - MY IP is banned from the site, again]

13. anime2leech – mostly on torrent, only latest episodes are available for ddl.

14. fabulous – serving latest and on going series. (Current season)

15. gundam.eu – serving BSS and Deculture sub ddl. (Nodame Paris, Zettai Karen, Nastume, etc)

16. aero – serving Aero sub ddl. (Toradora, Ga-rei Zero, etc)

17. erutnevtnioj – serving some series from different subbers. (Birdy, Tales of Abyss, etc)

18. another14 – serving Hidamari Sketch, Sketchbook, Doujin Work, etc.

19. multipurposechives – serving majority series by Spoonsubs. (Hakaba Kitarou, RideBack, etc)

20. pem’s – serving some series from gg, Spoonsubs, and Encodergasm. (Gurren Lagann, Gundam Series, etc)

Using 3rd Party File Hosting Sites (Megaupload, Rapidshare, etc) – Not recommended but it’s up to you:

01. zone-anime – complete and on going series. All files are serving in MU or RS. Serving manga and anime ost too. Register required.

02. ftp-anime – serving a few older complete series. Front page links are dead. Check the forum for links. Files hosting in MU. Register required.

03. cyber12 – serving complete and on going series. Jdrama as well. on MU and some other hosts.

04. animeds – complete and on going series. on MU. Register required.

05. anime-sensei – complete and on going series. on MU.

06. animetake – complete and on going series.

Not sure if it’s working:

01. g2anime – serving many complete and a few on going series. And also some Jdrama and movies. [I can't enter the site as "This IP is being shared among many domains."]

02. barge – serving a few complete anime: Genshiken, PPD & etc. [password needed]

03. infinitevortex – serving a few popular series for free. Register required. [bad codes]

04. chihiro – serving Chihiro sub ddl. (To Love Ru, Da Capo II, etc) [files no found?]

05. mizore – serving Sketchbook HD only. [very slow?]

01. anikei – currently down, but it seems they’re coming back soon. [coming soon?]

02. kyuuketsuki – serving Kyuu’s releases. Register required. (Kiba, Busou Renkin, & etc) [not updated]

03. animedreamer – serving a few series: Rescue Wings, Bartender, REC & etc. Serving numbers of Jdrama as well. [server down]

04. hstorm – serving a few popular series: Naruto, Bleach & etc. Slow site. [not updated]

05. anime-kraze – currently serving Seirei no Moribito subbed by Anime-Kraze. [server down]

That’s all for now. Frankly I didn’t test the speed of all of the sites or even use them often. So do correct me if there’s any broken link and incorrect info.

Do suggest more sites if you know, except sites which:

- hosting their files on 3rd party file hosting servers (megaupload, rapidshare & etc),

- required to pay-to-download (fansubs are free btw),

- required to join their forums and collect posts count,

- has unlimited pop-up ads,

- hosting non original releases by the subbers; eg: files re-encoded into .rmvb format, and

- are non-English sites.
