Been wanting to blog about it ever since I watch it in the cinema, and that was two Saturdays ago. No thanks to the busy work schedule. Anyways, long story short, imho the satisfaction level wasn’t anywhere close to the superb Tokikake but still an enjoyable watch nonetheless. The family themed plots, moments, and characters are pretty good.

Sakae Obaachan is easily the most awesome character in Summer Wars.

Real world settings > OZ virtual world. The big and happening and the traditional Jinnouchi family is very entertaining to watch while the plain OZ world feels flat and empty. Jinnouchi obaachan simply snatches the main spotlight of the whole movie, I just love how she’s trying hard to look for all her contacts for help and her talks with Kenji during their hanafuda game.

Just about anything is possible to connect to OZ. Interesting.

The final part about how Natsuki leads the family to have a final battle with Love Machine (lol) by using hanafuda is kinda uhm, cheesy. As much as she looks awesome in her avatar, but her final form and that mahou shoujo style transformation is.. just not my type. ^^” As for Kenji, I guess his best part is to solve those ridiculous math puzzles and maybe trying his best to support everyone else including himself. It actually felt like Kazuma is as equally important as Kenji lols.

On another note, I passed my JLPT level 3! ^^ Not awesome results but still satisfied with my self study effort. Not sure if I’m taking N3 or even N2 (kinda wishful thinking as I don’t plan to take classes) this year end though. Will see how.
