It’s amazing how I was able to release my bankai (thank you aibo for the word) and worked 3 days straight without much rest during last weekend just to make some progress for Fyp. So then I’ve decided to reward myself by taking a day or two off to put aside the work and try to catch up with all the anime which I’ve left out for a week or so. Though the price to pay is to work harder again after this.

I heard she’s busying watching lecture video and Lucky Star at one go now. Look people, only smart kid can do this.

Aya: Since when did I multitask like this? And I haven’t watch Lucky Star until this afternoon lor. I demand you to pay me the damages you caused to my name. =P Anyway, since Spring is here, let’s embrace moe-ism!! 春がキタ、萌えるぞ!! ^o^

1. Hayate no Gotoku #1 – 2

Aww.

Senn: This series is just cute. So cute. Hayate is so adorable. <3 He’s kinda remind me so of Allen of DGM (probably their voice) but Hayate’s obviously more empty minded than Allen kun. Nagi and Maria are both very lovable as well. KOTOKO’s Op is so-so tho, I think Shana’s 2nd Op is way better. Anyways, this is a very well executed series, funny and entertaining as hell, I was LOL-ing non stop through out the first two eps. Will follow this for sure. I love how everytime Nagi screams “Hayate~” and he’ll be appearing right in front of her. Aw. xD

Aya: Another tsundere female lead. Juz that she’s more deredere than Shana or Louise. I like all the references to other anime, (though I couldn’t understand some, didn’t watch ma.) and all those censoring. xD And where to find a main char who watch anime and draw manga? (except Kona-chan that is) And the narration of this anime is a plus point, simply love it!!

2. Kamichama Karin #1

Sparkling God

S: Very Pita Ten-ish. But at least Pita Ten has the cutest ever akuma Shia chan. Have to admit that actually both Karin and Himeka are kinda cute but so far I see nothing else more than that. Almost fainted when Karin shouted “I-AM-GOD!!”, that whole scene was so unnatural O_O”. Besides, the way that the guys/boys/gods/gays transforming (never a good idea to let males to do any transformation ala the mahou shoujo style) has caused me too much goosebumps. Chances of continuing this is pretty low.

A: Its like Pita Ten since its from the same author, I think. =) Anyway, the incantation and transformation are really lame, especially the mahou shounen one. I cringed when I saw it… geli lah. Though there seem to have a dark side to the story, and I’m a fan of Nakahara Mai, chances of continuing are very low.

3. Darker than BLACK – Kuro no Keiyakusha #1

Reminds me of Ginko.

S: Nice. Just by the first few scenes of it you can feel this one is a bigger production, judging from the overall look and execution. I like the characters design, esp the mystery Lee (Hei) san. <3 The plots look promising, hopefully Bones will be able to keep up with this until the end. The Op “Howling” by Abingdon Boys School isn’t as catchy as their first Op for DGM imo but still acceptable. Must watch of the season.

A: Definitely a must watch for me. It’s interesting to see all the power of the contractor and the price they have to pay. Still guessing what is Hei’s price. xD Plus, most of the char names are chinese-based! It put a smile on face while listening to Hei introducing himself with his chinese name. Good thing Bones is animating this. Looking forward to the next ep!!

4. Touka Gettan #1

This is a Male.

S: Basically I have no idea what is this series about after watching, but my guess is some mixtures of mysteries, (re)incarnation, guardians of town, and very complicated relationships & etc (did I just made it sound like AIR?). The fact that I couldn’t decide if Touka is a female or male is also pretty disturbing. But after reading through some reviews, it seems that this series is actually telling the story in reverse form: the first ep is actually the final, the second ep is the second last and etc, you got the idea. The Op isn’t bad, but I dun really like Carnelian’s characters design. Dun think I’ll be following this since it’s not my style.

A: I also have no idea what is going on. It’s like they keep jumping from the past to present and then back to past etc etc. I actually like the sakura scenes in the 1st ep. One day must go to Japan and see it for myself. heh… Anyway, I thought Touka is a girl? From Yumiko’s narration that is.

*I still don’t have any idea after watching ep2. Though I have to say I like the Op and also the traditional background music. Zannen desu kedo, I’m dropping this.

5. Sola #1

Kyon just had his plastic surgery.

S: It’s kinda plain and only got a lil more interesting in the very last quarter of the ep, when Matsuri is being chased by the specky guy. The first ep didn’t give much clues so it’s hard to tell what exactly is the whole story about by now. The characters dun look good at all when they’re animated, especially the faces look like kinda out of shape (see the Yorito guy above), imo their still graphics are so much better – just take a look at the Ed. They shouldn’t let the Yorito guy went on and on about the sora (sky), but instead focus the story more on the girls. Guess I’ll give 2nd ep a shot and then only decide if this should stay. Btw Yorito’s school uniform is so hella similar to Kyon’s, lol.

Another doll from Rozen Maiden?

A: Actually this reminds me of AIR, whats with the endless blue sky. The way Mayuko asked for foie gras is like a typical scene in Rozen Maiden. xP I guess I’ll continue with this, considering that the major fansubbers are taking this, plus the seiyuu lineup. Hopefully the story won’t disappoint me.

6. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann #1

FF7:AC – Tifa anyone?

S: Dun think I’ll watch this kind of genre if it’s not from Gainax (kyaaa xD @FLCL and KareKano, haven’t got the chance to watch NGE yet, paiseh xP). I love the animation and Gainax’s style of craziness, the pace of Gurren Lagann is very intense from the beginning to the end. The characters rock, I especially like Yoko the sexy babe with her sniper looking weapon. xD The Op is quite nice, and will definitely follow this one, just hope that there’ll be a formal group subbing this title.

A: Hmm… this is not like your conventional anime series. First time that I heard of drilling being the main thing they do everyday. Nevertheless, interesting stuff going on. Though it’ll take me some time to get used to the robot with huge head. Still dunno what to make out of this but most probably will keep watching it.

7. Hitohira #1

O_O

S: Typical high school fun series. It’s about Mugi an extremely shy girl but she somehow ended up joining the drama (research) club, and I’m sure you can imagine how’s it gonna like already. Am okay with the graphics and characters (Mugi is cute), along with the not so high quality animation. This is one of those anime which I’ll watch when I have nothing else to keep me entertain.

A: Another school-life based series. I think I’ll continue just for the school-life pacing. Need this every season, balance is important. =P

8. Lucky Star #1

Right. Because of that damn Fyp.

S: Right. Everyone watches this because of Kyoani. The style is very similar to Azumanga, since both featuring high school girls and stories are adapted from 4-koma. In this first ep, the girls are like talking non stop, but the content are surprisingly rather informative lol. And I prefer the whacky Ed than the Op dance too. The characters are so adorable xD Kona chan is of course my most favourite since I know how’s it like when I start yapping about my anime stuff to the poor friends who will have to listen to my nonsense. xD Ahaha. xD Must watch.

A: It’s another Kyoani production and I can see another Hare Hare Yukai storm coming up. Rather refreshing for me since I have never seen anime based on 4-koma before and yesh, I have to say that its to my liking. So definitely on my watch list!! Though I’ll still watch even if I don’t really like since its Kyoani. =P Anyway, Senn-chan, at least you get to yap at your friends, I don’t even have such chance since my friends practically know nothing about anime. Sigh…

9. Claymore #1 – 2

S: This is a decent anime, although for some reason sometimes the graphics do look like only the still images are moving. I wasn’t very into this kind of genre but the plot seems kinda interesting, while my only wish is that Raki isn’t getting anymore angsty than the current him, or else we’re gonna prepare to see another Saber/Shirou (FSN) pairing, which can be quite a pain to watch honestly. Will follow this. Though just realised it’s planned to have 50 eps. Erks.

A: Wow… 50 eps. Didn’t know that. I’m kinda reluctant to follow series with that many eps unless it’s able to sustain my interest for that long. I guess the plot will decide everything and hopefully MADhouse won’t disappoint us.

10. El Cazador de la Bruja #1 (Spanish: Hunter of the Witch)

You deserved this. Cute lil cow girl.

S: Another quite decent one, nothing much to complaint about except the animation quality and the wee bit of unnecessary fan service in the Op and Ed. Both lead chars are pleasant to watch, I especially like Ellis’ expressionless face and voice, by Shimizu Ai. Looking forward for more plots, hopefully it’ll be more interesting than Black Cat.

A: Now that you mentioned it, it does have some similarities with Black Cat. Ellis vs Eve. So far everything is ok for me. Can’t wait for more interesting plots and also more of Ellis’ power.

11. Heroic Age #1

Octopus Legs for dinner anyone?

S: Dun really like the look of this, especially Princess Dianeira and the shark (?) looking mecha. I dun find the plots as interesting as the previous 2 either, so are the characters. Guess I’ll have to give this up – unless I’m like, darn free.

A: The food processing part was rather interesting. Other than that, rather disappointing. Chances of continuing very low.

12. iDOLM@STER Xenoglossia #1

Flyin, it’s flyin O_O

S: Gah Sunrise no more Mai-Hime / Otome please. Orz. Aren’t all of them are like too similar already? It’s so overloaded. ~_~ Kinda reluctant to watch.

Mai? Nayuki?

A: Seems like it’s going to be like another Mai-Hime/Otome series. But I’ll continue to watch since I don’t really mind more of these. Lolx.

13. Nagasarete Airantou #1

SO THIS IS A MAN! WHOA! LET’S EAT HIM!

S: The girls aren’t bad at all but this anime looks just like any other typical harem show, not to mention that the sole male char, Ikuto isn’t cool at all. Otherwise it’s quite funny to watch how the girls are fighting over for him, but well the chances of me following this is rather low. A good harem anime needs someone like say, Yuuichi, lols.

A: Harem dose of this season, I think its a must in every season nowadays. I like the colourful look of this anime, it juz brightens up your day. xP Anyway, definitely continuing with this to provide the laughter.

14. Bokurano #1

And they shall start killling each other from now on to survive ..

S: After watching this for about 10 mins I realised it has that Battle Royale feel – and after reading through wikipedia (with the spoilers along), it proves my feeling was right, this is indeed that kind of story. So it’s gonna be a real depressing one. The style looks like some anime in the early days and the 3D is obviously no good. Though both Op and Ed songs are quite nice and emo enough. I like BR kind of story so I’ll follow this one for sure. Heck I’m actually thinking of reading the manga already. Meh.

A: The plot seems rather interesting. But can the robot move faster? It pains me to see it crawls so ever slowly and attacks in slow motion. Since Noto Mamiko and Sugita Tomokazu are among the seiyuus (and also the plot), I’ll continue with this.

15. Seirei no Moribito #1

The Heroine

S: So far this has to be the one with best graphics of the season, with very impressive background details and all. The storyline is fine, so are the Op and Ed. The Op theme “Shine” is from L’Arc~en~Ciel anyway so it can’t be any bad, eh? (totally biased) The background music sounded prominent, and this whole first ep looks fairy good, but it’s just that I need some time to get used to the characters design, especially the main heroine and her lips, lol. Hopefully the rest of the episodes can keep up to the standard.

A: Definitely impressive background design. And the character design need some getting used to. I have been wondering about the background set-up of this anime since the prince’s name sounded Korean to me. Anyway, will keep watching this.

16. Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS #1 – 2

Subaru + Tia.

S: I didn’t watch the first and second season of Nanoha but I guess this isn’t a very big problem since I can still pickup the storyline quite well without any prior info about the series. As much as I lost a great deal of interest at mahou shoujo characters in this season, but I thought StrikerS isn’t too badly executed, at least their transformation and the usage of mahou are still within the acceptable level. Chances of following this is higher than Xenoglossia, lol.

A: Watch this since Senn-chan said its like better than Xenoglossia. Luckily there isn’t any of those cheesy mahou shoujo transformation. I actually like what I’m seeing so will probably continue watching.

17. Shining Tears X Wind #1

S: An adaption from a PS2 game Shining Tears. Unfortunately, neither the storyline nor characters design is my type. It’s too cliché, not following.

18. Moonlight Mile #1 – 3

Saruwatari Gorou.

S: This may not consider a Spring anime (started Feb/Mar) but what the heck. I like how they’re showing this sci-fi anime close to the reality/serious side rather than using the usual animation or cartoon-ish effects. But the downside is the mass usage of 3D – they just dun seem to blend in with 2D, no matter how good it is, you can just tell when a 3D object appeared. The characters are pretty interesting too, will most probably follow this.

19. Romeo x Juliet #1 – 2

Bishie Romeo.

S: I know nuts about Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet so probably that’s why I have not much of problems to accept this obviously twisted story. I like the characters design, including the extremely pure Romeo (reminds me of Suzaku xD) and Juliet, besides, there are also quite numbers of bishies in it as well. Kyaa xD. Aye, guess I shall follow this.

A: The first time I know about this story was when I went to a concert in DFP. The orchestra was playing and there was a screen showing the ballet performance. The main difference lies in Juliet’s character but I have no problem with this adaptation. Juz hope that Gonzo won’t screw up this series.

20. Lovely Complex #1 – 2

The Comedy Duo.

S: My first time of watching anime in chinese sub since there’s no english sub around (yet?) for this series. Wai, finally a shoujo anime! xD The art is so-so, but the comedy is hella good, Koizumi (the girl, 170cm) x Ootani (the guy, 156cm) is sucha perfect winning comedian combo. xD Their Kansai dialect is a lil hard to get used to (loud + the nya nya sound ~_~) but it’s somehow fun to listen / watch. Has nice Op and Ed too. Hopefully there’ll be an english group picking up this title, because it simply deserved to be subbed.

A: Wow… you actually finish watching this 2 eps in 1 night. Yes, the shoujo dose of this season. A definite must have!! xD I kinda like Kansai ben, with the extra ~n and ya plus some other differences. The Op and Ed is by Tegomass!! First heard of their song Miso Soup (friend’s intro) – nice song btw. Anyway, english sub onegaishimasu!

WOOT!! *jumps in joy* Our wishes are answered! KissSub is subbing LoveCon. Faster catch up with the release. Hayaku!! xD

21. Kishin Taisen Gigantic Formula #1 – 2

Kids think he’s cool.

S: It’s weird to see kids are the major pilots and a loli is the technical chief of a mecha project when there are obviously so many other older ppl around. Besides, the differences of the quality are very obvious – while some scenes look really good, the rest will look like crap. The main char Suwa kun too faces the same problem: while he’s looking all so cool when piloting Susanoo, other time he’s just an innocent kid who doesn’t know anything about the world. They never bother to show his expressions too while the mechas are battling. Is it because of this series is aimed for kids so all the details dun matter at all? o_O I dun get it. Also, even am not a mecha fans but I can tell that China’s robot is so damn gay. -_-”

22. Murder Princess OAV #1

Yeah right. xP

A: Basically this is a story where a princess and a bounty hunter exchange soul while they were falling down a cliff. So now the bounty hunter has to act as the princess in order to save the kingdom. Since she so ganas, ppl call her murder princess. xD And the real princess sorta dress up like a maid (in later eps). Anyway, since this is an OAV, one ep will only be released per month (according to ANN that is). So far the story is so so. I juz find those Frankenstein look-alikes kinda weird. The big gap between releases may damp my interest though.

There are still a few more titles to go but I guess these are all for now. It’s kinda tiring to watch so many at a go, you know. Orz.

Aya: Also few more titles have yet to watch. Whats with the huge size of files anyway (imagine 300+mb for an ep)? I’m running out of space in my comp and have no way of dling it. >.<
