Probably the only natsu matsuri / 夏祭り / summer festival in town, held in The Japanese School, Changi campus, about 2 weeks ago. My first time attending a matsuri in Singapore, also the first time putting on a yukata – all thanks to friend’s advanced tickets and we got there really early, like 3 something in the afternoon – there were already about 50 people in the queue, outside the school gate, under the sizzling hot sun.
The gate opened at 4 (at 5 for the non advanced ticket holders), then we headed to the yukata renting area right away. About 3 dollars for a full set, after picking up a piece of our favourite from some boxes, there are volunteers to help us to put it on – the whole process took about 15min. And I think all the yukata are rented out in about.. 20min. o_O
About 15 photos after the cut.

Definitely a very good summer weather for natsu matsuri.

Nice school building. Nice blue sky without clouds at all, too.

Social Science Room 1 – temporary Men’s Yukata Dressing Room. :D

Alfro moms and cute lolis posing by the pool.

Ocha~
There were so many people going around and we were too busy buying food and eating as well, totally forgot to take photos of the food stalls, except this one which sells drinks. Basically most food taste really average, and overpriced. I guess we’re all paying for the matsuri experience. They were jacking up the price during the bon odori back in KL too, so what’s new.

Games corner. Look at the queue, well.
There’s no kingyo sukui (goldfish scooping) this year due to probably the animal abuse policy. ^^”
..

Lights on, loads of people.
..

Performances: the traditional, the modern, the professional, the amateur. They have everything.

Mommy is busy taking family portraits.

Finally, bon odori dance. I like my dragonflies-print yukata. Think I’ve posted one in Twitpic.
..
Hopefully can make it to one in Japan next year? :)
