Bangkok - Wat Phra Kaew

Wat Phra Kaew aka Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

..

My second Bangkok trip. Rainy season, been drizzling through out the trip. Bad for photography, but good for strolling around without getting too dusty. Yeah right. City of angels, you say? Because the full name of the city:

The city of angels, the great city, the eternal jewel city, the impregnable city of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated god, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukarm.

Thanks wiki. Anyways, since I didn’t manage to snap many photos during my previous trip, I’ll just fill this post will tons of images without too much text. Well hopefully. About 50 images in total.

First meal after touched down and checked in. Well it tasted just like Ipoh Hor Fun. And we basically use just sign language to order the food.

Bangkok

Afternoon stroll on the first day and ended up in this little jetty by the Chao Phraya River. Forgot the name of the jetty though.

Bangkok

Passed by a museum, 5:43pm. I actually thought of throwing stone inside, while thinking of the first episode of Higashi no Eden, lols.

And we reach Khao San Road. Backpackers’ and hippies’ favourite: cheap inns, pubs, open air eateries.

Shocking pink cab. We’re on Tuk-tuk.

Bangkok - Suan Lum Night Bazaar

Suan Lum Night Bazaar. Huge, but repetitive stores. The huge beer garden is basically a con tourists place, food sucks real bad – worst green curry I’ve ever had in my whole life. The colourful snack isn’t bad though, made of green bean paste, and it’s from a road side stall before we heading to Suan Lum.

Wat Phra Kaew is all golden, quite a sight to see. The Emerald Buddha is tiny, only about half a metre tall. Can’t take photo inside though.

Jim Thompson House. Nice place to visit and very well kept too. Hidden at the end of a tiny lane, worth the walk though. Love the garden.

Bangkok - Chatuchak

Chatuchak Weekend Market. This is the main reason why I’m in Bangkok again, since I missed it during the first visit. Frankly speaking, am kinda disappointed. It’s freaking huge and all, but the stuff are pretty much similar and majority are low quality pirated goods. Yeah there are some designers’ stalls too but on the other hand, quite pricey.

There are total of 27 sections and personally think section 2 is the best out of all, along with the furniture and paintings section. They really have nice furniture in Bangkok, unlike back at home where most people will just go to Ikea for furniture references.

TCDC (Thailand Creative & Design Center) is located at the 6th floor of Emporium, can be reach by taking BTS to Phrom Phong station. It has a really impressive art & design resources library which tourists can show their ID or passport to get a free pass and take a look inside. Totally love the little meeting rooms inside!

Though, I doubt the membership fees is cheap. There’re some exhibitions on going too. I guess you’ll never find a place like this in Malaysia anytime soon – they’ll never be able to survive.

Udee Bangkok, where we stay. Located inside a really quiet lane, about 15min walk from Saphan Kwai BTS station. Not a bad choice, given the price and service, also the nice environment but I’d prefer to stay close to the shopping malls next time. Somewhere like where I stayed last time, in Sala Daeng.
